Are Pool Heat Pumps Reliable?
When considering which pool heating system to use, reliability is an important factor. This is both to ensure any downtime is reduced, while also ensuring your investment stands the test of time.
Inverter Pool Heat Pumps are incredibly reliable, lasting considerably longer than most other pool heating systems. Our pool heat pumps have an extremely high reliability rate for two reasons. Firstly, our pool heat pumps utilise stainless steel for the casing which is incredibly durable preventing rust or corrosion. Our heat exchanger is made of high-grade titanium to ensure durability in harsh conditions also. Secondly, being an inverter unit, the compressor is able to vary its speed. This is an advantage because much of the time it will be running at a very low setting using minimal power, and causing minimal wear.
Gas pool heaters can heat faster, but they are prone to corrosion and rust. Gas pool heaters generally do not last nearly as long as inverter heat pumps. Although gas pool heaters may seem cheaper initially, in the long run they usually end up being significantly more expensive, especially when you factor in the price of gas.
Solar systems can be beneficial, but it really depends on the climate and locality to get maximum benefit from the sun’s rays. Christchurch does get many long sunny days in summer, but it can also experience very cloudy shoulder seasons preventing any significant heating from solar. Keep in mind that the shoulder season is the main time of year the pool will require heating. Solar systems may have cheaper running costs, but they are very dependent on the sun unlike inverter heat pumps which can keep your pool warm even on cloudy overcast days.
We encourage you to look around and see what system works best for you, keeping in mind durability, reliability and availability for heating – three aspects where inverter heat pump systems excel.
